Whisk your loved one off on a romantic London walk and enjoy some of the most picturesque spots in the capital.
Sometimes it’s all about the simple things, not big gestures, fancy restaurants, or extortionate blooms. Go grab your walking shoes and take a stroll, hand in hand through these romantic handpicked London walks:
Wander The JuBilee Greenway
This 60km walking and cycling route was completed in 2012 to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. A kilometre for each year of Her Majesty’s reign, the path links the 2012 Olympic Park and Paralympic venues with many waterways and attractions. There are ten sections and one starts at Buckingham Palace and ends in Little Venice. Walk up Constitution Hill, through Hyde Park, past Kensington Palace, and along to Paddington before ending at the colourful canal and barges at Little Venice.

Meander along New River Walk
New River Walk is a local Islington secret. The scenic man-made park follows the New River and stretches from Canonbury Road to St Paul’s Road. Stroll past weeping willows skimming the rippling water as you cross the wooden bridge. Spot city wildlife like ducks, moorhens, and plenty of birds who call this leafy part of London home. The linear park is full of character and worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Run wild on Hampstead Heath
There are plenty of delights within the 790 acres of ancient parkland. The 4.6 mile Hampstead Heath Circular Walk is a great way to see the highlights. Head to the top of Parliament Hill for stunning panoramic views of the city skyline. Stop at the beautiful country mansion, Kenwood House for a cup of tea and a slice of cake. Whilst there take a look at the fine art collection – it’s free entry too!

Stroll through highgate cemetery
Not the first place you’d think of for a romantic walk, but this Victorian burial is considered one of England’s finest. Famous for its romantic wooded landscapes, beautiful architecture, and ivy-clad tombs, the historic cemetery is full of things to explore.
Explore and find the famous graves of Karl Marx, Douglas Adams, and George Eliot, even George Michael is buried there (in an unmarked grave). The peaceful surroundings make it a wonderful walk with a loved one.
Track the PArkland walk
This 4.5-mile wooded nature reserve on a former railway line from Finsbury Park to Alexandra Palace runs through the leafy suburbs of North London. A walk along the linear green pedestrian and cycle route is one of the best walks to spot wildlife. You can see anything from hedgehogs, and foxes to small muntjac deer. The remnants of the disused line can still be seen through the tunnels and empty, forgotten platforms.
Escape to Japan at Kyoto Gardens
For a slice of Japan and a dose of calm and peace head to a traditional Japanese Zen garden Tucked away in the heart of Kensington’s Holland Park is Kyoto Gardens. Gifted to the capital by the city of Kyoto in 1991 to commemorate the longstanding friendship between England and Japan.
The stunning green space is lined with Japanese Maple Trees, you’ll find Japanese water features, tiered waterfalls, rock gardens, and a family of Koi Carp swimming in the pretty pond. And look out for the odd peacock parading its feathers.

Watch the deer at Richmond park
The largest of eight Royal Parks, Richmond Park is probably the closest you’ll feel to being outside of London. It’s the ideal romantic walk. Wander around its 1000-hectare ground and watch out for the majestic red and fallow deer. The 40-acre Isabella Plantation dating back to the 1930s is a charming spot too with its beautiful woodland gardens, streams, and ponds.
