If you’re planning a trip to London and also a Harry Potter fan you’re in the right place! The eight blockbuster films were shot all over England, but London is where the world of witchcraft and wizardry came to life the most when it comes to filming locations.

Harry Potter Places In London
With this guide you can follow in the footsteps of Harry Potter and take your own magical tour around each and everyone plus some of London’s most iconic sights:
King’s Cross Station
The first stop has to be the location featured in every Harry Potter film. The London station where the Hogwarts Express departs – Platform 9 ¾ at King’s Cross Station. Of course, a valid ticket is needed to see the exact spot – the arched wall between platforms 4 and 5. Fear not Potter fans, there is a Platform 9 ¾ for the perfect photo opportunity with a trolley stacked with battered suitcases and an owl cage disappearing into the world of magic.

St Pancras International
Next to Kings Cross Station is St Pancras International the UK’s connection to Europe via high-speed trains. London’s most instagrammable station boasts a beautiful red brick neo-gothic facade. In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, it acts as a backdrop when Ron and Harry decide to drive the Weasleys’ magical Ford Anglia when they miss the Hogwarts Express.

Claremont Square
This is probably the most hidden-away Harry Potter filming location on the list. Not far from St Pancras International in the London Borough of Islington is the home of Sirius Black. Better known as 12 Grimmauld Place, the HQ of the Order of the Phoenix. The picturesque square was featured in the Order of the Phoenix and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.

Leadenhall Market
In the Philosopher’s Stone, the architecturally stunning Leadenhall Market is featured as Diagon Alley. Harry and Hagrid are seen walking down Bull’s Head Passage and entering the wizarding pub, the Leaky Cauldron. Likely one of the more popular Harry Potter filming locations in London for sure.
The ornate Victorian-covered market dates back to the 14th century and is a great addition to any London day out.

St Paul’s Cathedral
St Paul’s Cathedral sits on Ludgate Hill at the highest point of the City of London. Surprisingly it wasn’t the beautiful exterior but the interiors that were used as a filming location. The spiral stone staircase to reach Professor Trelawney’s Divination classroom in the Prisoner of Azkaban can be found in this magnificent Grade I listed building. Known as the Geometric Staircase in the southwest bell tower it was also used again in the Goblet of Fire as the stairs to the Defense against the arts classroom.

Millennium Bridge
The pedestrian-only steel suspension bridge crossing the River Thames appears in the opening scenes of the Half-Blood Prince. The striking sequence shows the Millennium Bridge collapsing as the Death Eaters attack to signal the return of Voldemort. Well, work a visit as on either of the bridge you have St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tate Modern to tick off your London landmarks list.

Lambeth Bridge
Another bridge featured in the Harry Potter film series is Lambeth Bridge. When Harry storms out from the Dursley’s home in Prisoner of Azkaban he’s rescued by the triple-decker Knight bus. During a dramatic scene as the Knight is hurtling through London, it’s seen squeezing through an impossible gap between two red buses when happens on Lambeth Bridge. It’s the next one up from Westminster Bridge and offers great views of the Houses of Parliament.
WESTMINSTER Tube Station
When Harry is called to a hearing at the Ministry of Magic in London he travels by tube to get there. Westminster station had to be closed for the whole day while filming the scenes for the Order of the Phoenix. It’s a tube stop you will probably visit when travelling around London as it’s right next to Big Ben and the House of Parliament.
Piccadilly Circus
Piccadilly Circus is one of London’s most popular tourist destinations – Amazing how this busy location overrun with crowds was used for filming.
In the Deathly Hallows Part 1, after Bill and Fleur’s eventful wedding Hary, Ron and Hermione disapparate to Piccadilly Circus only to be chased by Death Eaters and be nearly run over by a bus.

Scotland Place
In the Half-Blood Prince Mr Weasly and Harry enter the Ministry of Magic through a red telephone box. This Harry Potter filming location can be found at the intersection of Great Scotland Yard and Scotland Place. Alas, minus the iconic red telephone box as a prop in the film.
Reptile House at London Zoo
Want to try your hand at parseltongue? Reptile House at London Zoo is home to 650 different species and is also the oldest scientific zoo in the world.
In the Philosopher’s Stone Harry discovers he can communicate to snakes and sets a Burmese python free and traps Dudley in the snake pit.
Australia House
Filming for Gringotts Wizarding Bank was shot inside the Grade II listed Australia House, the Australian Embassy in London. Being a Government building you’re obviously not allowed inside. If the need is strong to see the interiors just head to the Warner Bros. Studios Tour, where you see it’s been replicated to its full glory.
