GRENADIAN CUISINE
Thanks to the rich, fertile volcanic soil organic fruits and vegetables are plentiful. Farmers can grow everything from cabbage to grapefruit, mango to sweet potato. And let’s not forget the island’s renowned nutmeg, cinnamon and chocolate. Add to this the melting pot of cultures from French, Portuguese and Indian, each leaving their own stamp and adding an exciting dimension to the cuisine.

Plant-based eaters will find plenty of options on the island too. Grenada is packed with delicious food options, from more affordable home-style cooking to fine dining. Travelling as a vegetarian I had no issues with food and always had plenty of options as far as finding places to eat in Grenada.
Feast on hearty stews, organic produce, fresh seafood and the best chocolate on the island. Here are four places to enjoy a tasty Grenadian bite and add to your list of places to eat in Grenada.
Must Eat At Restaurants In Grenada
bb’s Crabback
Overlooking St George’s harbour’s is celebrity chef Brian Benjamin’s namesake waterfront restaurant. Dining alfresco is nothing short of spectacular with views out to the sea and the mega-yachts moored at Port Louis as you dine.

The menu offers Caribbean and Grenadian specialities, including crabbacks (baked crabmeat of land crabs), a signature curried goat dish, delicious callaloo and okra soup, pumpkin fritters, black eye and red bean stew and Caribbean vegetable curry.
TOP TIP: Callaloo is a popular Caribbean staple green leafy vegetable, very similar to spinach. It makes deliciously tasty soup found in most restaurants.

Don’t forget to leave a graffitied message of appreciation on the walls and pillars of the restaurant.

At the northern tip of Grenada is Petite Anse Hotel and Restaurant. The property run and built from scratch by British couple Philip and Annie have put their heart and soul into the hotel. Perched on a hillside above a wild beach it has incredible far-reaching views of the island of Carriacou and the Grenadines beyond.

The restaurant serves Caribbean and European dishes. Expect generous portions, with an emphasis on fresh fish and local fruit and vegetables. Most of it is grown on the grounds.

The roti was generously filled with a vegetable curry delicately flavoured with Caribbean spices. Keeping it local with the beverages too, the bar offers ale and cider on tap brewed in a microbrewery in Grenada.

I’m not a vegetarian but I could have happily eaten all those dishes – wow, so delicious! I had the best Caribbean Roti on Tortola, but it looks like they may have some competition from Grenada!
Sima Sthanakiya says:
I loved their roti’s and I was so surprised by all the tasty veggie food.
